Backpacking
On the weekend of March 28th, my Outdoor Pursuits class is going on a backpacking trip to Alleghany National Forest. We will be hiking on the beautiful Minister Creek trail. I have never been backpacking or camping before so it should be an awesome experience. As a kid I loved being outside and in the woods so this should be a fun event for me. I feel that after I have watched many episodes of Man vs Wild, I should be completely fine in the forest. Bear Grylls is the man when it comes to outdoor adventures. Too bad Mr. Smith can't get Bear to come along for the trip. He could show us all his techniques on how to survive in the wilderness. I would pay to see him eat forest animals like he does on the show. How he describes the taste and texture is priceless.

Places of Interest
Slippery Rock really needs to add some places of interests. Ginger Hill and the Brewery are literally the only two places I would be interested in to go to. This town needs to add maybe another nice restaurant, a nicer bowling alley (I don't know if the one near Giant Eagle is even open), maybe a putt putt golf, a movie theater, etc. There are many types of places they could build here that would give this town a little more life. Unfortunately if they were to add some places, they would be added after we have all already graduated.

Tech PETE
Technology in PETE is one of the most beneficial classes for a PE major. It is a lot of work but it is all useful. I never feel as if we are doing "busy work" or wasting my time doing assignments. We have a ton of projects using many different pieces of technology and software that we will most likely use in our future as a Physical Education or Health teacher. Being that Dr. Leight is the one who created the program for the class, it is comforting to know we have the best professor instructing the class. Even though this class can be very stressful at times, I know it will help me in the future and make being a PE or Health teacher a little easier.

Weather: Part II
Being that I have such strong negative feelings towards the weather, I decided to write about it again. In my previous weather blog, I talked about the snowy, cold, windy weather. After about two weeks, It changed but did not get any better. It is March now and yes the weather is slightly warmer but of course it is raining. Here at Slippery Rock, we just can not catch a break. During Spring Break, the weather was nice most of the days and it broke 60 degrees on more than one occasion. However, once we got back from break, the weather once again sucks. Today it was in the low 40's and windy with rain. I would rather it be snowing and colder then deal with wind and rain. It seems at this point that the weather here will never improve. We will be in the middle of May still wearing hooded sweatshirts. I just hope it improves sooner then later because I do not know how much more I can take.
